- Swallowed. Practically not toxic.
- Eye/Skin. Animal studies indicate that this type of oil or fat is neither an eye nor a skin irritant.
- Inhaled. Fumes from over-heating maybe mild respiratory irritants.
Chronic Effects
No information available, but employee of Tallow Products Pty Ltd have not experienced any harmful effect during normal handling and production.
First Aid
- Swallowed. Material relatively harmless. If a large amount is swallowed, seek medical advise.
- Eye. Irrigate thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, seek Medical advise.
- Skin. Wash with soap and plenty of water.
- Inhaled. Remove to fresh air, seek medical attention. Choking and possibility of lung irritation from hot vapours only.

Spills and Disposal
- Spills. Sweep up or shovel up and recycle. Remove residue from surface with soda ash or sodium bicarbonate and hot water.
- Disposal. Incinerate or dispose on land tip if permitted. Material is biodegrable and represents little hazard to the environment.
Fire/Explosion Hazard
- Extinguish Media. Foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder or water spray (mist). Large fires use foam. Small fires use carbon dioxide or dry powder. Addition of water spray will aid in reducing burning rate.
- Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards. Vapours may cause irritation of nose and throat. In using water spray (mist), please note that product floats on water.
- Special Fire Fighting Procedures. Protective clothing and self-contained breathing equipment should be available for firemen.

- Ventilation. Mechanical ventilation advised to remove dusts and heated vapours.
- Respiratory Protection. No special protection required when handled at normal ambient temperature.
